Stonecraft Restoration Welcome Stonecraft Restoration has over 30 years’ experience of stone conservation and restoration, successfully completing projects throughout Ireland and the UK. RESTORATION & CONSERVATION We pride ourselves on preserving our built environment history for future generations and do this through careful and considered restoration and conservation. Combining traditional methods with modern techniques, we restore brickwork, masonry and facades to their original glory including complete renewal, in situ surface restoration or consolidation. A preliminary inspection will be undertaken to evaluate the structure’s condition before bespoke method statements and risk assessments are developed. Work is then carried out with careful consideration to health and safety not only taking account of our workforce, but possible public interfaces. RESTORATION & REPAIRS We carry out sympathetic repairs to create seamless restoration and conservation. From specialist lime mortars to creating matching stone indents for replacements, our craftsmen have the experience and skills to restore masonry, preventing further deterioration. For stone mortar repairs, we use natural hydraulic lime and graded sands as well as lithomix and remmers, creating the right match for the structure. FACADE CLEANING Thorough cleaning of a building’s façade can make a significant difference to its appearance. We use thermatech steam cleaning techniques, a gentle thorough method which doesn’t saturate the structure. Steam cleaning will remove moss, algae, fungi and other biological matter and will also kill off spores, removing the need to use chemical biocides. This method is gentle yet extremely effective.

The Cabragh Wetlands Trust was registered in 1993 in an effort to save a vast area of wetland habitats from destruction after the filling-in of the settling pools by the Thurles Sugar Factory during its closure. These lagoons used to be an oasis of wildlife, particularly birds. The Trust was formed and acquired the land adjacent to the filled-in lagoons to ensure the continuation of this resting place for migratory birds.
