The Dipping Lugger

Our story begins in 1789 when Robert Melville was tasked with establishing Ullapool as a fishing station for the British Fisheries Society which included building the original house. Fast forward to 1829, and one of the worlds most famous engineers, Thomas Telford arrived in Ullapool to build the parish church and in turn rebuild this house to form the parish manse. Jumping forward 120 years or so, local mechanic Jock MacInnes and his wife Kathy secured the property from the church for his family home and one of the first bed and breakfasts in the village. Almost seventy years on, it's now our turn to take stewardship.
