Description: Website of Frederick Scott Archer, the Artist, Sculptor and Photographer who invented the collodion process in 1851; which over the next few years replaced the Daguerreotype and Calotype.It remained the preferred photographic process from the early 1850s unil the introduction of mass produced Dry Gelatin Plates in the late 1870s, early 1880s.He was born on 30th August 1814 in Hertford, Hertfordshire, England and not in 1813 in Bishops Stortford.
