Company name: The Beautiful Midden Site

Description: Beautiful Midden is now in its fourth year serving the Taos, New Mexico community with an ongoing artistic inquiry and strategic intervention dealing with the old habits of illegal dumping and intense lead based ammunition discharge into our limited and fragile waterways. Working directly with Amigos Bravos and the Taos County Waste Department, Beautiful Midden has functioned as a hub for usually dispersed local agencies, organizations and individuals to generate a deeper ecological relationship and responsibility through collaboration, educational, direct action and clandestine sculptural encounters. These actions provide a shifted perspective for individuals to make informed choices regarding traditions that may no longer serve the community and our neighbors downstream in a positive way. We use art as community discourse.
